Session is now in full swing and I'm as busy as ever in the State Capitol. I want to take some time out to update you on the work I've been doing on your behalf so far in 2011.
That's why I've scheduled two upcoming Town Hall events. Please RSVP.
- Saturday, February 19th, 1-2PM at Coffee Girls Coffee Shop in Waldo at 7440 Washington (corner of Washington and 75th), KCMO.
- 2. Saturday, March 5th, 10:30-11:30AM at Broadway United Methodist Church at 406 West 74th Street, KCMO.
Before attending the Town Halls, you may be interested in reading up on some of my recent proposals in Jefferson City. The following list includes some of the bills I've proposed and also features links to articles you might find helpful.
- Parental Kidnapping Prevention – Sam & Lindsey's Law (HB 234) (Jan 18: "Sam and Lindsey's Law gets another chance")
- Human Trafficking Penalties (HB 433) (Feb 1: "Representative aims to increase trafficking penalties")
- Ethics Reform (HB 432) (Feb 8: "Kander bill would force non-profit disclosure")
- Updating Domestic Violence Law. I participated in hearings for the Attorney General's Domestic Violence Task Force. The full report from the task force was recently issued and I am working with a bipartisan coalition to pass legislation consistent with the findings of the task force. (February 9: "AG Koster leads bipartisan effort to strengthen system battling domestic violence")
- The Public Fraud Prevention Act – This legislation (which I'm filing today) will crack down on those who defraud taxpayers. Modeled on the federal False Claims Act, it will allow those with knowledge of, but no culpability in, acts of fraud committed against taxpayers to pursue a civil action against the alleged perpetrator.
- Unemployment Insurance for Military Spouses (HB 238)
- The Veterans Workforce Act (HB 239)
Sincerely,
Jason
P.S. Don't forget that you can always follow my updates on twitter and facebook, as well.
