Schaefer: Visits From Truman, MACC Students

This week, the Senate came back refreshed and ready to go after a week off for Spring Recess.

Tuesday (3-29) was the Truman State University Showcase at the Capitol. I had the opportunity to meet with several student constituents, including Matt Collins, who performed with the Truman Brass Choir in the Rotunda, and Joanna Russell, an intern from Truman currently in the Missouri Government Internship Program working another Senate colleague. I also have an intern from the Truman internship program working in my office this semester, Krista Crider, a communications major in her third year at Truman State.

Wednesday (3-30), I had the privilege of meeting with several students from Moberly Area Community College, including Terrence Fiala, Gabby Powell, Candice Canida, and Natalie Dearell, who were visiting the Capitol along with Dr. Evelyn Jorgenson and Dr. Jeff Lashley. In addition, I had the pleasure of introducing several members of the Randolph County EXCEL Leadership Class to my colleagues on the Senate floor.

Also this week, the House of Representatives completed floor debate on the budget, sending it over to the Senate where it was first read on Wednesday. The Senate will begin their review of the House budget bills next week.

The Central Missouri Honor Flight’s next flight will be Tuesday April 5th. If you are interested in going on an Honor Flight, call (573) 256-1930 or visit the website at centralmissourihonorflight.com to apply.
