Tim Jones: Majority Minute: Budget Takes Center Stage, Constitutional Convention Proposal Possible

As we enter our eleventh full week, the House Floor Calendar is now replete with Budget Bills as the Missouri House begins its Herculaneum effort of passing yet another 22 Billion+ State. Chamber hours will steadily increase this week as we work away beneath the Capitol Dome…

Today in the House

Monday, March 28, 2011

A large portion of today and tomorrow will likely be consumed with the budget; HB’s 1-13. The rest of the week will be dependent upon the progress made on the Budget Bills. Time permitting, we will continue to work through Consent Bills and also, possibly, some of the additional legislation highlighted below.

Later this Week: TENTATIVE

House Concurrent Resolution for Third Reading: TENTATIVE

HCR 19, sponsored by Rep. Chuck Gatschenberger (R-13), could be debated this week. HCR 19 submits an official application by the State of Missouri for the calling of a convention for proposing amendments to the United States Constitution.

House Bills for Perfection: TENTATIVE

HCS HB 411 and 421, sponsored by Rep. Zach Wyatt (R-2), addresses the need for proper transitioning processes to occur for residents exiting state developmental disability facilities.

HB 423, sponsored by Rep. Eric Burlison (R-136), is designed to protect the State of Missouri and Missourians from the overreach of the federal government into your health care. Through Health Care Compacts, regulation of health care would return to the States, where it properly belongs.

HB 434, sponsored by Rep. Jerry Nolte (R-33), is important legislation designed to help support and protect the business environment in Missouri.

HCS HB 475, sponsored by Rep. Doug Funderburk (R-12), is designed to provide, to the general public, accurate and reliable comparison information about the quality and cost efficiency of different health care providers

HCS HB 546, sponsored by Rep. John Diehl (R-87), would require the Missouri Housing Development Commission to be located in Cole County and its executive director or chief executive officer must live within a 40 mile radius of Jefferson City.

Throughout Session, I will continue to send the Majority Minute to my constituents, colleagues and friends across the State. If you ever have any questions, feel free to contact my office at 573-751-0562.

Until our next update, I am, and remain, in your service,
